I got these to run Open Class over here in WA but between work and study I don't have time for a second class so they've got to go. I bought these second hand but unused from the US 2 months ago and I have only done 2 practice days with them so they are like new. I believe this set-up cost around $2000 brand new. Email me for more information and pictures. Open to reasonable offers just want them gone. Cheers, Kris. Comment by on February 21, 2012 at 13:27.
INTREPID TAKE TWO - KF2 & KF3 - WINTER CUP LONATO Intrepid’s newest recruit to the Intrepid Driver Program, Max Verstappen did not disappoint with a dominating performance in KF2 and UK class-act George Russell took out KF3 in the first major race meet of the European season. The 17 th Winter Cup held at the South Garda kart track of Lonato (Brescia, Italy) provided thrilling race action for more than 273 entrants coming from four continents for the first top level technical and sports contest of the season. The two young Intrepid pilots were both the consistent performers of their fields debuting the new Intrepid Cruiser M2 chassis and taking out the two top Junior classes. In the KF2 Final the young Max Verstappen (Intrepid Cruiser M2-Tm) dominated from start to finish taking command of the race and never being truly challenged. Across the weekend he achieved best on track performances throughout the qualifying heats and winning the pre-final by more than 4 seconds clear. In the Final Verstappen was eventually followed across the line by Antonio Fuoco (Tony Kart-Vortex) from Southern Italy in 2 nd place and Norwegian Dennis Olsen (Energy-Tm) in 3rd. In KF3, the reigning European Champion, George Russell also won both the pre-final and Final but some spirited racing did make for entertaining viewing.
The KF3 Final was slightly more exciting, with Russell (Intrepid Cruiser M2-Tm) shadowed by Albanese through the race though never actually menaced or challenged, while Lorandi put up a great show. The Italian driver Lorandi was author of a fantastic comeback, managing to reach the leading duo in the closing stages. But he spoiled it all when he tried overtaking Albanese, making harsh contact instead and forcing blameless Albanese well wide. Hansson took full advantage grabbing 2nd, followed by Lorandi 3rd (later penalized) and Albanese.
The new 2012 Cruiser M2 chassis has hit Australia and will make its debut in South Australia this weekend at the CIK Stars of Karting presented by Castrol Edge. Flying start to 2012 for Intrepid Australia Woolston and Greenbury prove “untouchable” Three Top Ten finishes in JMAX An impressive contingent of Intrepid pilots joined the packed grids and lined up for the first Rotax Pro Tour of the year held at a steaming Todd Road in Victoria. There was clearly a great anticipation to kick off the serious racing for the year and a considerable number of challengers and contenders were in the bold orange Intrepid chassis competing in the major classes of Rotax Light, Rotax Heavy, JMAX and DD2 (3rd in Manufacturers Cup with no competitors racing in DD2 Masters or Over 40's). Rotax Heavy was all about Troy Woolston’s dominance and his speed and race technicality proved he was a class act and untouchable for the weekend’s racing. His results show that from starting off P3 for the first qualifier he took home first after first and was quickest on track by three tenths. Woolston displayed impeccable skill with flawless drives proving he is an absolute technician behind the wheel and working in combination with his 2011 Intrepid Cruiser chassis and CC Racing engine and support.
Lane Moore finished his Final in 7 th which was a remarkable feat considering he was taken out in the pre-final and started the Final in P33, to drive through the pack and finish at 7 th. In his first outing for the year Lane showed his 2012 promise with his Finals drive charging past Heavy racers including veteran William Yarwood. Honorable mentions go to Full Tilt Karting’s Danny Wright who also had pre-final dramas and starting from P34 finished at 16 and Clem O’Mara, whilst he was not in an Intrepid was pitted with the team and in his first ever Pro Tour outing finished 17 th. Melbourne’s Paul Rodgers a consistent front runner for CC Racing, struggled with technical issues through the weekend and found some pace in the Final, charging forward to 6 th but then threw a chain which ended his race aspirations.
Trent Moore also struggled with technical issues withdrawing from the Final with his engine overheating in the 41-degree heat. Chris Board had a spectacular roll-over in the opening stages of the Heavy Final and thankfully walked away with only minor injuries. In DD2 Tyler Greenbury reinforced his abilities as a gearbox specialist with decisive wins against the likes of Pringle, Ensbey and Woolston. By the pre-final event he had firmly stamped his authority on proceedings and had his competitors scratching their heads.
In the Final, Pringle got the jump on the start and managed to hold Tyler for the first half of the race but with 12 laps to go and his kart coming on strong Tyler made a spectacular pass on Pringle and drove on uncontested to win the final by the length of the long Todd Rd main straight. Tyler is currently testing his KZ2 and KF1 Bolt Pro Intrepid karts for his 2012 campaign on the CIK Stars of Karting which kicks off later this month and will get additional race fitness joining Lane Moore and competing in New Zealand at the upcoming Trans-Tasman Challenge held at Manawatu Toyota Raceway in Palmerston North over 18-19 Feb. Intrepid stamped its mark on JMax for the 2012 season with 3 drivers finishing in the top 10 and a host of others almost there. Gold Coast’s Mitch Griffin had an outstanding weekend after a shaky qualifying session putting him on P16 and a DNF in the heats, he charged forward with a spectacular drive in the pre-final that saw him come from P11 to 3 rd and he carried that forward again in the Final taking out the 3 rdstep on the Podium. Mitchell Gee had a reasonable run in qualifying and showed good pace all weekend consistently running with the lead group.
Although a racing incident in heat 1 did cost him some valuable points, he drove a great weekend to finish 8 thin the Final after being pushed well back on the start and recovering. Lachlan McHugh in his first major outing in the Intrepid struggled to find his mojo early but by Saturday afternoon had found some good pace and drove a great race in the Final to come forward from P16 to finish 9 th. Although just outside the top 10 a big mention must go to Matt Smith who was extremely quick in practice and was showing great pace in the early heats until an excursion into the tyres at full pace saw him rebuilding his kart overnight Saturday and into the wee hours of Sunday morning with some help from CC Racing’s Pete Cathcart. He drove the kart to take out 14 thin the Final. The dynamic duo of Josh De Maio and Brad Jenner also both finished in the Top 10 of a huge field of 51 drivers contesting Rotax Light.
Like many racing across the weekend they both struck some on track dramas and unfortunate luck but shone through with strong final results, De Maio finishing 5 th and Jenner at 7 thin the class field. Many of the drivers are looking forward to the next Pro Tour outing at Gympie on 23 – 24 March where they will be driving in their new 2012 Intrepid models. Intrepid Australia has received it’s first shipment of the Intrepid 2012 models and the entire first delivery was sold out prior to their arrival. Initial testing of those karts has provided excellent feedback, with Greenbury absolutely stoked with the karts he will be running in KF1 and KZ2. The versatile new model, the 2012 Cruiser M2 has enjoyed great results already in Europe, America and New Zealand and Intrepid Australia is looking forward to working with our talented drivers to bring them Aussie success. Pre-orders are being taken for the next delivery of karts as well as building interest in the debut of Intrepid’s high-profile sister brand Praga.
