Camaro Manual
It had long been expected that the variation of the 7-speed manual transmission from the Chevrolet Corvette would make its way into the Camaro. Official documents filed with the California Air Resource Board (CARB) supported those expectations, including the “M7” 7-speed manual transmission in the list of drivetrain options for the 2019 Camaro, along with the M6 and the SA8. Unfortunately, new paperwork filed with CARB no longer lists the 7-speed manual transmission in the Camaro, but it does include the 10-speed automatic.
In short, it looks like the 7-speed manual won’t be offered in the 2019 Camaro, but the 10-speed might be included beyond the ZL1 package. Camaro Transmissions – 2018 and 2019 The 2018 Chevrolet Camaro in non-ZL1 form is currently offered with a 6-speed manual transmission and an 8-speed automatic transmission, with the hotter ZL1 getting the SA10 10-speed automatic transmission. It has long been rumored that the 7-speed manual transmission from the C7 Corvette would make its way into the Camaro. Of course, that would require some engineering, as the Corvette uses a rear-mounted transmission with a torque tube connecting it to the engine while the Camaro uses a more-traditional setup with the transmission mounted directly to the engine. While there would be some work involved, offering a 7-speed manual in the Camaro would improve the performance and the fuel economy of the entire range – from the turbocharged 4-cylinder to the supercharged ZL1. That was why the rumor makes sense and that is also why it came as little surprise when the GM paperwork filed with CARB included the M7, along with the current M6 and SA8.
Had the brand offered the 6- and 7-speed manual transmissions at the same time, it seems likely that the 6.2L V8 would get the newer gearbox while the smaller engines would continue on with the 6-speed. However, new paperwork filed by GM to CARB does not include the M7, so that speculation is no longer necessary. For whatever reason, it seems as though the Camaro will not get a 7-speed manual for 2019. Possible 10-Speed The good news is that in their newest filing with CARB, GM has included the SA10, so it looks as though the 10-speed automatic transmission from the Camaro ZL1 could be used in other models.
It seems that the 10-speed would most likely be used in the Camaro SS, but that gearbox would improve the performance and the efficiency of every engine option in the Chevy muscle car. This is the 10-speed transmission developed in conjunction with Ford Motor Company. Ford is already using their version in the F-150 Raptor and the entire Mustang range, so it seems likely that at some point in the near future, the 10-speed will replace the 8-speed across the entire Camaro lineup.

Share. Facebook. Tweet. Pinterest. Email spied a document recently with a little tidbit that we're all interested in.
It looks like - if these docs are to be believed - the 2019 SS will come with either a six- or seven-speed manual transmission, along with an eight-speed automatic. Says it's the seven-speed from the but it can't be exactly: The 'Vette uses a Tremec TR-6070 transmission, mounted in the rear in a sort of pseudo-transaxle setup, while the Camaro uses a more standard engine-mounted transmission.
So the packaging will be different, even if the familiar TR-6070's guts carry over. The documents also say the only has one 6.2-liter engine listed for 2019, which puts the future of the 650-hp into question. Our guess, as is AutoGuide's, is that Chevy is looking to up the mpg on its big ol' LT1 V8 over its current 16 city/25 highway. A triple overdrive cruising gear would do that. We emailed Chevy about the docs. The company came back with the standard line of 'we can't comment on future product.' Have at it below in the comments.
